Another heiress of taipan Lucio Tan is stepping up in the family-owned conglomerate.

Karlu Tan Say will assume the post of chief operating officer of Eton Properties Philippines—an appointment made by Tan himself.

Say, a director and also head of human resources, takes a bigger role in the company following the abrupt and tragic death of her older brother

Lucio “Bong” Tan Jr., who was Eton’s CEO and president.

In a recent address to Eton’s employees, Say said her brother’s vision for the builder continues despite his passing.

“It is my wish that all of us be open and willing to take on new challenges as we face the ever-changing expectations of our market. I believe that by working together, we can truly achieve success as envisioned by my brother Bong,” she said.

Say is the youngest daughter of Lucio Tan and wife Carmen.

As told to the company’s employees, she wants to focus on increasing Eton’s leasing revenues while bringing more value into the company’s flagship projects such as Eton City in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, and Eton Centris in Quezon City.

Under her watch, Eton will also transform more of its undeveloped land assets into earning properties.

According to Eton, Say has 20 years of management experience in the property, human resources, trading and acquisitions, and service industries.

She also has an entrepreneurial streak: She is a founding director of Dong-a Pharma Phils. Inc., a distributor of fast-moving consumer goods.

She earned a management degree from the Ateneo de Manila University and later on finished magna cum laude in interior design at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in San Francisco, California.
