BATANGAS REMAINS A FAVORITE INVESTMENT DESTINATION
sources, this is why we do not have problems in terms of water like Metro Manila. We have more than enough power. More importantly, our tourism is booming, which is important because that’s what brings in the people, which in turn means more business for the entrepreneurs,” the governor said.
The provincial government is also hard at work at completing several other enhancements, which is bound to further improve ease of doing business in Batangas. These include upgrade of the Batangas port, the second biggest port after Manila; connecting more roads; railroad rehabilitation; mix-use enclaves; food terminal facilities; water supply improvements, and optimized internet connectivity.
Batangas is also investing in a helicopter, in partnership with the private sector.
“We will be the first province to have an integrated approach to development,” Mandanas said. “Having a helicopter would improve delivery of our health program (medical ambulance), disaster management, investment promotion, medical evacuation; and disaster mitigation.”
Aside from tourism, notable industries in the province include liquefied natural gas, petrochemicals, plastics, steel, livestock, and food production.
Railroads would also be revived, while landing stations and gateways of the country are under construction in Nasugbu, Batangas. Plans are also in place to put up a new international airport.
When it comes to food production (livestock), Batangas has started a food terminal. The province also boasts of the biggest cold storage and grains handling facilities, as well as the most number of feed mills in the entire country.
Mandanas mentioned that the Batangas port is the number one port in the country when it comes to passenger count—almost three times as many as the port of Manila. The modern international seaport serves as an alternative to the highly congested Manila ports.
Mandanas said: “All of these improvements mean that Batangas will become more easily accessible to entrepreneurs, which in turn would make the province an even more attractive investment destination in the years to come.”
