L-NU marks 50th year: Looking back and looking forward
Lyceum-northwestern University, the first medical school established in the north, culminated its celebration of its 50th Founding Anniversary on December 6, 2019 at the CSI Stadia, Dagupan City. The Grand Golden Jubilee and Alumni Homecoming is a milestone that celebrates the university’s humble beginnings, present victories, and future endeavors. The university administration, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests gathered to officially end the year-long celebration of LNU’S golden year and open the next chapter of its existence. Vice President for Student Affairs and Alumni Relations, Dr. Eugene Reyes and University President, Dr. Luz T. Duque-hammershaimb welcomed everyone to L-NU’S Golden Year-gala. Guest of Honor to the gala night was Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Tesoro Go who commended the University for its exceptional contribution to the immediate community of Dagupan, the outskirts of the city, the country and even globally. Stellar performances from the university’s cultural and performing groups spiced up the grand event that was highlighted by the giving of recognition to Outstanding Alumni whose contributions in various industries and notable private accomplishments continue to bring pride to L-NU. Apart from giving due recognition to the exemplar body of work and service that the outstanding alumni were conferred with, the affair was meant to honor, give back, and express gratitude to these awardees for continuously upholding the values of integrity and excellence in their respective profession. Outstanding Jubilarians were given awards in the following fields: (1) Public Service; (2) Allied Health; (3) Academe; (4) Business and Management; (5) Culture and Arts; and, (6) Humanitarian Service. As it looks ahead to the next century, L-NU continues to fulfill its vision to be a model of excellence in integrated instruction, research, and public engagement, tied with its mission to produce ethically and socially responsible employees of choice, entrepreneurs and leaders in both public and private institutions. In her closing speech, Lyceum-northwestern University Federation of Alumni Associations Foundation (LNUFAAF), Inc. Vice President, Dr. Bernadette V. Abella, expressed gratitude and appreciation to the organizing committee, faculty, and guests for coming together to celebrate L-NU’S milestone and accepted, on behalf of the association, the challenge of taking part in realizing inclusive development in the country.
