- By June Navarro @junavinq

Generating a dynamic sports plan that can yield rewarding results will be the quest of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) in the first national sports summit after nearly three decades.

PSC Chair Butch Ramirez said some of the great sports specialists and educators will gather during the two-day workshop on Feb. 27-28 at Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, as the agency charts the path that should be pursued to achieve excellence.

TJ Rosandich, president and

CEO of the United States Sports Academy (USSA), will present a vision on how to reach sports success and the critical ingredients needed based from a firstworld perspective.

Rosandich will share his expertise among local coaches, instructors and sports managers who will converge in the largest nationwide sports summit since the last one in 1992 in Baguio City.

“It is imperative for us to work with experienced people in the field to educate us about inclusive, grounded and scientific measures vital in our production of an effective sports plan,’’ Ramirez said.

Over 500 participants from different government agencies, the private sector, national sports associations, collegiate coaches and athletes are set to engage and imbibe the fresh insights that the speakers in the lecture workshops will impart.

“This is the only national sports summit since 1992, so we want it to be as inclusive as we can,’’ Ramirez said.

Founded in 1972 by the late Thomas Rosandich, USSA has brought their sports programs to over 60 countries to date.

Other topics up for discussion are sports governance and Philippine legislation to be facilitated by PSC deputy executive director lawyer Guillermo Iroy, along with the value of sports marketing, high-performance sports and the learning from sports in the Asean region.

The national sports summit 2020 will be graced by House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano as keynote speaker during the opening, while Ramirez and his commissioners will be the spearhead of the entire convention.

Officials from the Philippine Olympic Committee, Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education, and Department of the Interior and Local Government will likewise deliver their status reports on Philippine sports.
