TIP ends 2019 with national, int’l awards
The Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) ended 2019 with a myriad awards, accreditations, and wins in both the national and international scene. The engineering school also opened its new Technocore building in TIP QC which houses its state-ofthe-art engineering, fabrication, and innovation workshops.
“Every year, the achievements of the TIP community never fail to amaze me,” beamed Dr. Elizabeth Quirino-lahoz, TIP chairman and president. “The TIP community worked very hard for all these accomplishments. These are proof positive that every Tipian has the grit and determination necessary to make an impact in one’s respective field, wherever one may be,” Dr.
Quirino-lahoz added.
TIP’S international achievements are headlined by the reaccreditation of its 20 engineering and computing programs by the Us-based ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) and Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC), the global gold standard in engineering and computing education accreditation. By virtue of their ABET CAC accreditation, the computing programs of both TIP QC and Manila are also recognized by the signatory countries of the Seoul Accord. As such, graduates from these programs can enjoy professional mobility between Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Hong
Kong, China, Japan, United States, United Kingdom, and the Republic of Korea.
Meanwhile, the TIP Quality Management System (QMS) successfully passed the ISO 9001:2015 Surveillance Audit (P2). TIP also signed a memorandum of agreement for its participation in the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) SEA-TVET Teacher and Student Exchange Programs.
Locally, TIP QC and Manila were again granted “Autonomous Status” by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), making them two of only 68 schools nationwide awarded this honor. Additionally, TIP has 16 programs named as Centers of Excellence and Centers of Development by the CHED.
