Bumble Baes: Philip (25, Norco College, USA) and Issa (23, Polytechnic University of the Philippines)

Us-based Philip was visiting family when he matched with Issa on Bumble. They took a leap, and have been navigating a long-distance relationship ever since.

How did you meet?

We initially met on Bumble late June 2018, then met up in person a week after we matched (July 6).

When and how did you know it was love?

Philip: I knew when she accepted my history and flaws.

Issa: I knew it was love when I started remembering him in almost anything, like sisig in a new restaurant or passing by places we’ve been. It was pretty quick for me, honestly. I knew it was love within weeks and when it felt comfortable talking to him about anything, knowing that he’ll still stay and be there (with food)!

How long have you been together?

We’ve been together for almost 19 months, our monthsary is the 18th.

What do you like about each other?

Philip: I love how honest she is, and how she’s very caring and supportive of the people she’s associated with. She is, hands down, one of the best persons I know in my life.

Issa: I love everything about Philip, especially the way he’s so happy, positive and passionate about things and people he loves. When

Philip loves, he really loves, and he shows it in many ways—from how he opens doors for me down to holding my hand and squeezing it randomly. I also love the fact that we’re total opposites, and that he’s so organized. I admire that about him.

Favorite thing to do together:

Philip: Netflix, eating, chatting, playing video games, binge-watching TV shows

Issa: I just love being with him, even just the usual dates like sitting in cafés and talking about anything under the sun. But I do love playing Mario Kart with him, even if he beats me all the time! It’s the time where I’d laugh until I pee because of how competitive we are. I also love traveling together. It’s the time I get to know him more and we get to explore new things together.
