Strong quake jolts La Union, other parts of Luzon

BAGUIO CITY—A 5.2-magnitude earthquake shook a wide area of Luzon, including Metro Manila, on Thursday afternoon but the Philippine Institute of Volcanolog­y and Seismology and disaster response agencies did not report any casualty or damage. The quake struck at 1:17 p.m., 17 kilometers northwest of San Fernando City in La Union. It was felt at Intensity 4 in San Fernando City, Caba and Balaoan, all in La Union; and Dagupan City and Labrador and Bolinao in Pangasinan. Intensity 3 was felt in Baguio City; Urdaneta City and Villasis in Pangasinan; Quezon and Marikina cities in Metro Manila; and Obando in Bulacan.
