Brazilians want tighter quarantine measures
SAO PAULO—MOST brazilians support stricter social distancing measures to control the coronavirus, according to a poll published on Wednesday, despite the economic toll of over a million jobs lost. As of Tuesday, Brazil had registered 24,512 deaths due to the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) even as President Jair Bolsonaro attacked lockdown measures as a “poison” that could kill more through unemployment and hunger than the virus itself. Many areas in Brazil have imposed their own local lockdowns.
