Luxe beauty items for that pick-me-up

A nonessential purchase becomes a vote of hope at this time

An editor once spotted a shopping feature on new bags with the title “Bags that spark joy.” I found it endearing, because a nonessential purchase becomes a vote of hope at this time. It’s a way of telling yourself that things will be better and that one day soon, we’ll be able to enjoy the small things with abandon again.

Shopping is something I would advise you to do responsibly. That said, there is leeway for items that help you move forward, improve your immediate surroundings, or get you energized for that work call. In this light, I’ve come to appreciate a few luxury beauty picks that “spark joy” in me.

If you hop on to My Mercier Concierge, you can shop online for your favorite Laura Mercier items, or have a look at their new items. One thing I picked up immediately is the Caviar Stick Eye Color. If you’re looking to pull off some eyeshadow, or play with colorful liner during a video conference, this is the way to go. The formulation is smooth, but the color is intense—perfect to swipe on and blend gently with your finger for a polished look in less than a minute.

The Caviar Stick Eye Color comes in 12 new shades, half of which are limited editions. I chose Burgundy, as red tones do well on morena skin and pick up nicely on camera. I also got Turquoise to hop on that blue eyeshadow trend.

The product lineup at Aesop now includes Rōzu Eau de Parfum, their seventh. I’ve been a fan of the brand, particularly In Two Minds Facial Cleanser and Chamomile Concentrate Anti-blemish Masque.

Rōzu Eau de Parfum is my first time trying out a fragrance from the brand. It has floral tones led by rose and woody hints.

Why buy a fragrance now, you ask? It might be something for you to consider as a generous birthday gift to a loved one to excite the senses.

Share beauty

If you’re looking to ease shopping guilt, stop by Shiseido. Together with Laura Mercier and NARS, Shiseido partnered with CARE Philippines. “Share Beauty” is their effort to help women and children through the new coronavirus disease crisis. A portion of every purchase from any of these brands from July to August goes to CARE Philippines.

I received Ultimune Defense Refresh Mist last week. I think beauty mists are something needed on any office desk. When you need a break, spritzing yourself has an almost psychological effect of making you feel energized.

This mist is unique, as it’s a serum in spray form. Every time you use it, you’re getting the benefits of the Uchimizu Technology with the Double Refreshing Complex. This lowers skin temperature, aids your skin’s natural defenses and helps maintain its firmness.
