Manny’s rise from the ranks
The rise-from-the-ranks life of prizefighter Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao has been told and retold countless times, but it never gets old.
After 71 matches on the ring and forays into acting (“Wapakman,” “Show Me Da Manny”), singing (“Para Sa’yo ang Laban Na ‘To”), hosting (“Manny Many Prizes”) and politics, the 42-yearold boxing champ is happy to look back at his humble beginnings and hopes that others can draw inspiration from his life story.
“I never imagined life would bring me to where I am now,” said Manny, who has been endorsing Unilab Inc.’s Ibuprofen + Paracetamol pain reliever brand Alaxan FR since 1995. “Boxing changed my life forever. It lifted me and my family out of poverty and provided me opportunities to help others along the way.”
Cat-and-mouse rivalry reignited
In director Tim Story’s “Tom & Jerry,” which will arrive in Philippine cinemas soon, one of the most beloved rivalries in history is reignited when Jerry moves into New York City’s finest hotel on the eve of “the wedding of the century,” forcing the event’s desperate planner (Chloe Grace Moretz) to hire Tom to get rid of him.
The ensuing cat-and-mouse battle threatens to destroy her career, the wedding and possibly the hotel itself. But soon, an even bigger problem arises: a diabolically ambitious staffer conspiring against all three of them. Thereafter, it’s a situation that forces the archenemies to do the unthinkable— work together to save the day! “Tom and Jerry” is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
