MENESES-RODRIGUEZ

-

Piccolo Iñigo F. Meneses, 36, and Christine Marie Gerard S. Rodriguez, 34, a business couple, describe their relationship as “a boring love story, just a quiet, steady love” which started almost 10 years ago at a Christmas party.

The groom, son of Priscilla and the late Ricardo Meneses, and the bride, daughter of Jovito and Marielou Rodriguez, wed Dec. 3 last year at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Tagaytay, in a Filipiniana theme wedding where Rodriguez wore a terno by JC Buendia.

Tagaytay, under MGCQ in December 2020, allowed them 120 guests, half the capacity at Antonio’s, the reception venue, though only 80-90 attended.

“We figured that in 2021, the situation will likely be similar, and moving it never entered our heads,” the bride said.

They, however, had to deal with changes, like downsizing the guest list. “We couldn’t hug our friends because of social distancing... We had to distance ourselves even in the photos with our ninangs and ninongs.”

The bride’s older brother and sister-in-law were also stuck in Singapore.

But, looking back now, Rodriguez said that they wouldn’t have it any other way. “How many couples out there can say that they were married in the time of a pandemic? It’s a great story to tell to our future kids.”

She added, “COVID or no COVID, it was our dream wedding, and our loved ones present made it all happen for us. Months prior, I lifted everything to God…”

She advised other couples to just “go for it…but always follow protocols.”

“There will be bad days, tears, fights, but what’s important is your love for each other.”
