RIVERMAYA, MUSIC HERO IN ‘FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS’ CONCERT SET FOR APRIL 23

-

PascualLab is marking 75 years in the industry this year by spreading the love, with a series of online concerts kicked off by Ogie Alcasid and Ian Veneracion’s “KilaboTitos” show last March 26. This will be followed by “PascualLove: From Our Family to Yours,” a collaborative digital concert between the company and YouTube FM station Wish 107.5, featuring Rivermaya and Music Hero on April 23.

The highlight of PascualLab’s 75th anniversary is an FB Live concert featuring one of the biggest names in the music and radio industries, with special appearances from personalities who played special roles in the company’s history.

During the event, PascualLab, founded by the husband and wife team of Isosceles and Leonora Pascual, will also be launching its anniversary theme “Walang Kasing Galing,” a tribute to family love—which continues to be the Filipino company’s driving force. The pharmaceutical giant is the group behind such well-loved brands as Vitex negundo L. Lagundi Leaf (Ascof), C-Lium Fibre, OraCare Mouthrinse and Poten-Cee Vitamin C, whose “Into the Light” campaign was recently headlined by Bea Alonzo.

Must-watch virtual show ‘Mitch & Mel Online’ till April 16

Here’s producer/director Lyca Benitez Brown telling Inquirer Entertainment about Mitch Valdes and Mel Villena’s exciting series of shows called “Mitch & Mel Online”:

“Since laughter is also medicine and online gigs are all that performers like Mitch and Mel can do to try and earn a living, we came up with this little show to bring stories and music into people’s homes,” Lyca said. “It’s meant for watching on personal devices, so our production values are modest. We recorded it in The Gallery MiraNila, a new events space by Blue Leaf located in the MiraNila Heritage House & Library compound in Quezon City.

“When someone buys a ticket, we will send them a link so that they can watch the show online and on demand any time between April 10 to 16. That link is designated for one device only so it cannot be shared, although they can watch the show as many times as they like until April 16.”

Lyca gave us a lot of reasons why the show deserves viewers’ patronage. But to be honest, she had us at “Mitch Valdes” and “Mel Villena.” Another reason to watch the show: Special guest Celeste Legaspi. Order your tickets from mitchandmeltix@gmail.com

This April, Instituto Cervantes de Manila will screen the work of four contemporary Spanish filmmakers in a virtual series, dubbed “Del corto al largo.” The series will stream two works each—a short and a feature film— by directors Álex Montoya, Belén Macías and Juanjo Giménez, and producer María del Puy Alvarado.

The films will be shown through the Instituto Cervantes channel on the Vimeo platform (Vimeo.com/ institutocervantes) and will be freely accessible for 48 hours from their start date and time.

The series, which comprises eight films, kicked off on April 7 with the online screening of Montoya’s 2016 short, “Lucas,” followed by the 2018 feature film “Asamblea” (April 10-11).

Other films in the lineup: Macías’ “Mala espina” (April 14-15) and “Marsella” (April 17-18); Giménez’s “Rodilla” (April 21-22) and “Nos hacemos falta” (April 24-25); and Del Puy Alvarado’s productions, “Pulse” (April 28-29) and “Antonio Muñoz Molina, el oficio de escritor” (May 1-2).
