CIC ROLLS OUT MEDICAL REFRIGERATORS

Consumer and industrial equipment manufacturer Concepcion Industrial Corp. (CIC) has designed a new medical refrigerator suitable for storing a range of vaccines against COVID-19 during this prolonged pandemic.

Created by wholly-owned subsidiary Concepcion Durables Inc. (Condura), CIC disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Thursday the rollout of Condura Vax Safe, described as a medical refrigerator/freezer that can “store and preserve a range of COVID-19 vaccines at their required temperature and in optimal conditions.”

‘Active role’

With this new product, CIC said it was taking an “active role in helping and providing solutions for the COVID-19 initiatives in the Philippines.”

Some of the COVID-19 vaccines developed by American pharmaceutical giants are temperature-sensitive, thereby requiring a stringent cold storage chain. The Pfizer vaccine, for instance, must be refrigerated at vials in 2 to 8 degrees Celsius conditions and cannot be re-frozen. The Moderna vaccine requires storage temperature of between -25 and -15 degrees Celsius..

“As a Filipino company and the leading manufacturer of refrigerators and freezers in the country, Condura has designed and built a new product as its testament to the commitment to provide solutions for the Filipino community, especially in times of crises and uncertainties,” CIC said.

Vax Safe

“Affordable and accessible to all, this new product will help in the efficient distribution of vaccines across the country. Vax Safe is proudly Philippine-made, manufactured in the Condura plant located in Cabuyao, Laguna,” CIC said.

CIC is one of the Philippines’ most established and leading suppliers of air conditioners, air conditioning solutions, and refrigerators. Over the years, it has expanded into other consumer appliance products and building solutions, such as elevators and escalators.

Condura is primarily engaged in the manufacture, assembly, wholesale, retail, purchase, and trade of refrigeration equipment, including Condura and Kelvinator brand refrigerators and freezers.

Condura’s factory in Laguna has a capacity of 300,000 units per year and a production area of 16,420 square meters. It has the largest share of the residential and light commercial refrigeration market in the Philippines.
