Flora

You read that right: plants. Whether it’s flowers, cacti or leafy indoor greenery, we know by now that plants contribute to one’s health and well-being. It reduces stress levels, brightens one’s mood and even helps speed up recovery. Help keep your patient in good spirits and liven up the mood in your isolation room by adding plants and other decor your patient might like. You might want to provide a laptop or tablet so your patient could get in touch with other members of the family and friends for support, watch movies or play online games.

Ideally, aside from an isolation room, your patient should have his or her own bathroom. If this is not possible, remind the person ill with COVID-19 to spray the bathroom’s frequently touched surfaces with a disinfectant spray after each use. These include the door knobs, faucets, toilet seat, cabinet handles.

Even if you fortunately don’t get to use these new home essentials for COVID-19, these might still come in handy for other less life-threatening situations, such as when you contract a contagious flu or colds. Bottom-line is that it is always best to be prepared.
