MAKATI INKS DEAL WITH PRIVATE SECTOR ON OSMAK 2 PROJECT

The Makati City government has signed a joint venture agreement with top hospital developer Life Nurture Inc. (LNI) to complete the Ospital ng Makati 2 (OsMak 2) project.

Under the deal signed on Tuesday with Mayor Abigail Binay, LNI would redesign, retrofit, construct and operate the unfinished hospital which would then be renamed Makati Life Nurture Health System (MakatiLife).

The entire cost of the country’s biggest public-private partnership health-care project, including construction and medical equipment, will be shouldered by LNI while the city government will contribute the site of the hospital—a lot on Malugay Street.

Best COVID response

“Amid the challenges we continue to face, we sincerely believe that the best COVID (coronavirus disease) response is efficient health care for Makatizens,” Binay said. “It is our duty to provide each one with the best service, care, attention and medical facilities that taxpayers’ money can buy.”

LNI president Dennis Sta. Ana said the project would adhere to Binay’s vision of “preventive medical services, therapeutic excellence and rehabilitative services.”

According to him, they plan to add two floors to the existing OsMak 2 structure to increase hospital bed capacity to 360. A total of 190 clinics will also be built.

State-of-the-art

MakatiLife, Sta. Ana added, would be equipped with stateof-the-art facilities, including a cancer center, cardiac center, and a physical rehabilitation medicine center that uses robotics to treat joint and soft tissue ailments.

It will also have a hybrid operating room—combining diagnostic imaging and surgical theater—to effectively manage complex surgeries.

In addition, there will be a state-of-the-art wellness center for Makati residents who may want to avail themselves of complete and comprehensive tests for the prevention or early detection of diseases.
