Philbanda is a ‘Perfect 10’
The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP)–Office of the President, through its “Sining Sigla” outreach program, teamed up with the Philippine Band Association (Philbanda) to bring the latter’s decade-long celebration to the virtual screen through a concert billed “Perfect 10” last July 24, streamed live on the Facebook page of the CCP Office of the President.
Featuring the 60-piece Philbanda Wind Orchestra, “Perfect 10” highlighted a decade of symphonic performances from the country’s sole professional wind orchestra. This special virtual concert was graced by the Philippine Baton Twirling Association (PBTA), and hosted by OPM artist Ice Seguerra. Maestro Herminigildo Ranera of the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music is the conductor of the Philbanda Wind Orchestra.
Apart from the orchestra, young talents from Metro Manila and local participants from different regions also showcased their talents in the premiere performance of Ranera’s New Normal Concert March.
The virtual concert also featured the PBTA, an organization dedicated to training and developing young baton twirlers for years.
“Perfect 10” was a project of the CCP Office of the President’s “Sining Sigla” program. Under the leadership of CCP president Arsenio “Nick” Lizaso, this program aims to continuously reach out to the public, even in the midst of the pandemic, by providing artistic and culturally relevant content online.
