SHAKEY’S PIZZA DEBUTS IN SINGAPORE

Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. (SPAVI), the Philippines’ leading full-service restaurant chain, will open its first restaurant in Singapore this October.

The new Shakey’s Pizza outlet will be located in Lucky Plaza mall along the iconic Orchard Road.

Earlier this year, SPAVI signed a seven-year franchise agreement with Brenrich Pte. Ltd, a food court operator in Singapore that manages several food franchises.

“We are looking forward to opening our doors in October. Store construction is well underway, drumming up further excitement and anticipation among both locals and the Filipino community alike,” said Brenrich director Wong Ban Ming.

Originally incepted in the United States, the Shakey’s Pizza chain expanded to the Philippines in 1975 and is now a listed company under the Philippines Stock Exchange. In its more than 30 decades in operation, SPAVI has become one of the top full-service restaurants in the country, building a store network of more than 200 outlets nationwide. The group is set to open more stores in 2021.

SPAVI president Vicente Gregorio said: “We are always on the lookout for opportunities that would bring our brands closer to more guests. International expansion is an exciting new frontier, and we are glad for our franchisee partner, Brenrich, for reopening the Singapore market for us.”

Singapore has been at the forefront of global recovery from the ongoing pandemic. To date, the city-state has vaccinated more than 65 percent of its population.

“We are quite optimistic with our new store opening in the Lion City. The country’s progress in their inoculation program and Brenrich’s vast experience in restaurant operations further boost our confidence in expanding our network beyond Philippine shores,” Gregorio added.

Shakey’s Pizza’s Singapore menu will include best-sellers such as the Shakey’s Special, Manager’s Choice and Friday’s Special in its signature thin crust style. It will also carry Shakey’s Mojos and Chicken.

“We hope that the coming of Shakey’s Pizza to Singapore will add a new flavor to the country’s rich dining landscape and provide comfort and familiarity to Filipino overseas workers,” said Gregorio.

SPAVI currently has three overseas stores operating in Sharjah and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
