MINIATURE CHAIRS FROM GERMANY DONATED TO SCHOOL

-

CWC Interiors, the exclusive distributor of the Vitra furniture brand, has donated 62 miniature chairs from its Vitra Miniature Collection to De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.

The collection, which came from Vitra Design Museum in Wheil am Rhein, Germany, consists of tiny replicas of furniture design milestones. It encompasses the rich history of the craft from historicism and Art Nouveau, Bauhaus and new objectivity, radical design and postmodernism, up to the most contemporary design innovations today.

At one-sixth scale of the originals, each recreation piece exhibits the same precision from material and color to the most elaborate details in construction and handicraft techniques.

CWC Interiors and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde believe that the miniatures are ideal illustrative learning materials for promising artists-in-the-making studying in the country’s leading design schools.

The company likewise carries quality furniture pieces and décor from 26 globally acclaimed names in the industry, such as Herman Miller and Walter Knoll, and holds exclusive licenses for some of these brands.

The official turnover was headlined by CWC Interiors president Fred Yuson and Benilde president Br. Edmundo “Dodo” Fernandez, FSC, at the distributor’s showroom in Bonifacio Global City.

Also present in the event were Benilde officials, director for partnership advancement Robin Serrano and Center for Campus Art (CCA) director architect Gerry Torres, as well as CWC Interiors vice president for sales and marketing Agnes Sauler.

Curated by Benilde CCA, the Vitra Miniatures Collection will be open for public viewing in a special exhibition in 2022.

“I know how important it is for the education of our future designers and architects,”

Torres noted. “The Vitra exhibit will be one of the first shows we will install when we conduct face-to-face classes in 2022 and, like our previous shows, it will be cross-disciplinary and be grounded in academic.”

Several of the most iconic pieces from the Vitra Miniatures Collection are at the CWC Interiors Showroom, 5th Ave., Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. They will be on view until the mid-January.*
