Aligning your driving stars

- CHICDRIVEN JEANETTE IPAPO- TUASON

We sometimes turn to the mystic arts to invite good chi or good karma when things get tough. People will pray more, consult your feng shui expert, clean the space with sage, and harness the powers of crystals and stones to improve health, success, and mood. I have always been a “sigurista” and believed in these rituals and ideologies. Why? It doesn’t hurt to do so. I also think that everything is energy and that channeling it the right way does a lot of wonders.

I had a tough 2021, so to ensure a luckier 2022, I will employ all these in my arsenal. So just sharing with you what my “luck protocol” for the year will be.

Smudging Sage sticks. A native American tradition that has gained traction lately. I grew up in a family that usually burns incenso and kamangyan (incense and frankincense) to ward off evil spirits (and mosquitoes as a bonus), so Smudging Sage is not foreign to me. I usually do it when the vibe in your space feels heavy, and people becoming cranky. While you are burning your sage stick, announce your intention to clean the space or your car. I usually have a metal bowl to collect the ash and embers for safety and ease of cleaning up.

Consulting a feng shui expert. I talked to Melvin Sua, a feng shui practitioner for Destiny Asia Global Consultancy in Singapore and Part of the Healing House here in the Philippines. They employ the practice of feng shui and more eastern beliefs and practices. Here are some of his tips.

Master Melvin also shared some lucky colors depending on your feng shui elements. However, he stresses that it is important to consult a feng shui expert to consider the date and time of your birth for a complete destiny reading for more specific readings.

Elements and their corresponding colors:

Wood (green), Fire (red, pink, violet) Earth (gray, yellow), Metal (gold, silver, white) and Water (blue, black)

Harnessing the power of crystals. A lot of people can attest to the healing powers of crystals. I had this experience that, until this day, is unexplainable. I saw one crystal exhibit in the mall, and one man was trying to do a demo. He said he would try to remove the blockage in my sinuses which was a common ailment I had at the time. He asked me to close my eyes, and I felt some movement in my sinuses without anyone touching me. From then on, I’ve always put an amethyst geode on my husband’s bedside and a clear quartz inside the refrigerator. I saw this article on Motorist.Sg which talked about adding good feng shui in cars, listed the crystal as good for your sign. Crystal healing has been a practice since the time of the Egyptians, and each crystal has its function. Some promote good health energy while others eliminate negative vibes.

Summing up, the strongest weapon against bad luck is your mindset. If you think you are unlucky, then you will be, but if you decide that you are lucky and blessed, everything you will experience will be seen differently. Prayers, an abundance mindset, and a healthy body are vital in making enlightened decisions. At the end of the day, what works best for you, is what you believe. Happy Chinese New Year!
