AYALALAND LOGISTICS ENTERS DATA CENTER BUSINESS
AyalaLand Logistics Holdings Corp. is entering the data center business with plans to launch its first facility next year as part of a nationwide rollout.
The company said a stock exchange filing on Tuesday that it partnered with FLOW Digital Infrastructure, backed by regional investment firm PAG, to build carrier neutral data centers to tap blooming demand for “data consumption, digitization, 5G connectivity, and data localization trends.”
The expansion also comes as telecommunications affiliate Globe Telecom recently formed a $350-million data center venture with parent firm, Ayala Corp., and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres to build data center facilities across the Philippines.
There was no need for the companies to compete given the large demand and lack of data center facilities, Bernard Vincent Dy, Ayala Land CEO and AyalaLand Logistics chair, said in a statement to the Inquirer.
“The Philippine data storage industry is an underserved market and customers typically look for multiple [data center] sites and providers to ensure continuous service,” Dy said.
He added their data center venture was “aligned with the practice of global real estate logistics companies, geared toward diversifying its portfolio and enhancing of the value of its industrial landbank.”
AyalaLand Logistcs is the listed of subsidiary of Ayala Land focused on industrial estates, warehouse and cold storage facilities.
The company plans to bring to service 4.5-megawatt data center with FLOW by the fourth quarter of 2023.
