Amazing how the conduct of elections in the Philippines revolves around preventing vote fraud.

@carloshconde

These elections mean the difference between people getting killed or not killed in the next six years, and the people who got killed the last six years getting or never getting justice.

It’s not a journalists’ job to report only good things. It is their job to report the truth, no matter how uncomfortable it makes us feel.

Bianca Gonzalez, @iamsuperbianca

I teach Philippine history. I write and research about Philippine history. And since last night, I’ve been feeling that my existence is pointless. Pointless in a society where history repeats like a broken record and facts are a tier below jokes.

Disinformation is a kingmaker.

@TarraQuismundo

“Bagong Pilipinas, Bagong Mukha” but we keep on electing politicians with questionable backgrounds, same old trapos, same political dynasties making politics as a family business, and the like.

@SBVico19

Many of us will not be affected by the results of today’s elections. Privilege will insulate us from the effects. The rich can easily leave the country. But the poor and the marginalized will be robbed of chances at a better life. They have no option but to stay and suffer.

Jason Tan Liwag, @jaseybel

The real question really is, how will we free ourselves from the grip of disinformation? It eats truth, fairness, and democracy from the inside. This is the bigger question and the biggest battle of all moving forward.
