Vic del Rosario: ‘Find quiet time for books you want to learn from’

- Vic del Rosario Senior talent manager, GMA Artist Center

Vic del Rosario watched over Kyline Alcantara as she was declared Korean Tourism Organization’s newest honorary ambassador. He proudly smiled on the sidelines, and we asked GMA’s senior talent manager what he’s been reading.

What kinds of books do you like to read?

I like John Maxwell books. His leadership books are something I enjoy reading.

When do you usually read?

Usually in the morning; before you work on something foreign, you read a few pages of a book. Find quiet time to absorb everything, especially the kind of books that you want to learn something from.

What are your reading habits?

Sometimes, if I find a quote that I like, I text the quote to my friends and tell them that I found this in a book. One time I recommended a book to one of my artists, and I was so surprised that he posted the book on his social media two days after I told him to read the book.

What books are you currently reading?

I’m reading “Creativity Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration,” by Ed Catmull and Amy Wallace. It’s about Pixar and how they developed the company, starting from their very first movie, “Toy Story.”

And then it discussed how it became one of the biggest animation studios in America. You learn the management secrets of successful companies in the United States. It’s a slow read, unlike when you read a novel that you read in one sitting. It’s a slow read because you take a particular chapter and learn from it. For example, it took them three to four years to make “Toy Story.” The book takes you through the process of how they did it.
