Checking out your ‘neighbors’ at Park McKinley West

- By Din M. Villafuerte @dinmveeINQ

Each of us have varying checklists when selecting a home. Some want the availability of amenities. Some do not care if there’s a pool or a gym but require green, open areas. Others request to be in a gated neighborhood.

But there’s one item that is always absolutely on top of everyone’s must-have when choosing a condo or a house: location, location, location.

Nothing can probably make any resident feel more at ease than knowing that he or she is living within close proximity to nearly everything. These days, having an address that is within walking distance to the essentials—whether it’s a grocery store, a cluster of dining establishments, a sports facility or major thoroughfares—is certainly a blessing.

Imagine not needing to venture too far and spend so much on gas or Grab fares. All you need to do is step out of your home and all your essentials are right there in your neighborhood.

One address that is seen to afford its residents with accessibility is Park McKinley West. Located within the McKinley West township, it places you right in the center of an exciting and thriving lifestyle and business district. Here are some of your “neighbors” that promise to be ideal pit stops when you move into Megaworld’s forthcoming residential block.

VENICE GRAND CANAL MALL

It’s pegged as the country’s “most romantic mall.” And why not? Venice Grand Canal, located in the neighboring McKinley Hill township, has become the favorite date place of many, especially with its Venetian architecture that makes you feel like you’ve been magically transported to one of Italy’s most romantic cities. Make moving into Park McKinley West extra memorable by marking it with a gondola ride at the famous Venice Grand Canal while being serenaded by your gondolier.

MCKINLEY HILL STADIUM

Get your game on at McKinley Hill Stadium. Join a football training offered by various groups at the pitch, participate in a friendly pick-up game or support our local football and rugby teams.

PHILIPPINE ARMY GYM

If badminton or basketball is your sport, head to the Philippine Army Gym. Open to military dependents as well as civilians, it also has a pool and a free-weight gym. A children’s playground is also within the compound.

PHILIPPINE ARMY GOLF

Practice those swings and tee off at the Philippine Army Golf. While smaller than championship golf courses, it comes highly recommended especially if you want a fun round of golf, if you wish to practice at an accessible yet big driving range, or if you’re looking to learn how to play.

HATCH + HOOLMAN

Located at the corner Villamor Street inside AFPOVAI, Hatch + Hoolman is a great alternative should you find your usual coffee shops crowded and too busy. An off the beaten path cafe, shop, and art and design studio, it has a rustic industrial aesthetic with a laidback vibe. It offers an extensive menu featuring appetizers, waffles, sandwiches, pasta dishes, rice meals as well as coffee, tea and cocktails. You can bring your pets, and choose to have your coffee indoors or dine al fresco.

BURGOS CIRCLE

If you feel like exploring beyond the McKinley West and McKinley Hill townships, you can head to Burgos Circle which is merely 10 minutes away by car, or 20 minutes if you’re going on foot to burn some calories. Go on a food trip at the various restaurants. Bring your dog along so he or she can make new friends at Burgos Circle Park where the cutest doggos hang out with their humans.

UPTOWN MALL

Another accessible pit stop is Uptown Bonifacio. This sprawling dining, shopping and leisure complex houses the five-level Uptown Mall, Uptown Parade and a Landers Superstore, among others.
