With hybrid work being the new norm, popular video conferencing tool Zoom has stressed the need for companies to invest in a unified digital platform where employees can collaborate to boost productivity.

Ricky Kapur, Zoom head of Asia Pacific, said in a virtual event on Thursday that the “shift toward hybrid work is demanding rapid innovation.”

The mix of remote and onsite work setup has emerged during the pandemic as a business continuity plan for many enterprises. The scheme was designed to limit the exposure of employees to the COVID-19 virus.

“With hybrid work here to stay, successful organizations will need to deliver a unified multiplatform experience for both employees and customers,” he explained.

He said that many companies struggle with their digital journey because they use multiple single-use tools for different functions, like video conferencing and chat.

As such, they had to “navigate through different systems to solve problems, complete tasks or access data,” he added.

Kapur said Zoom offers an platform enabling team chats, phone calls, meetings, rooms, events and contact center. New features such as Zoom Mail and Calendar were also introduced to make collaborations more seamless.

“Zoom’s vision for the future is about bringing physical and digital environments together in new ways to create more inclusive, immersive, collaborative experiences. We are focused on giving organizations, their employees and customers a platform that works best for them, their lives and their workflows,” Zoom CEO and founder Eric Yuan said.
