ANOTHER SHELL GAS STATION RUNNING ON RENEWABLE ENERGY
The Shell Group’s Mamplasan mobility site in Laguna is now energized by renewable energy, in line with ongoing efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
Located at South Luzon Expressway in Biñan town, this is the second Shell gasoline station that made its switch to clean energy.
It is powered by Shell Energy Philippines (SEPH) using a combination of solar, geothermal and hydro power. It also houses Shell’s first high-powered electric vehicle charging station.
Shell North Luzon Tollway 1 in Balagtas, Bulacan, was the firm’s first station that tapped clean energy from SEPH, the group’s retail electricity supplier in the country.
Lower carbon
“The switching to renewable energy at our operations shows our commitment to reducing our own carbon emissions. We continue to work with partners in the decarbonization journey as we transition to a lower carbon economy,” said Lorelie Quiambao-Osial, country chair for Shell companies in the Philippines (SciP).
SciP has been tapping more often cleaner sources of energy for its offices and retail fuel stations.
SEPH also supplies renewable energy to SciP’s headquarters in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, and the Shell Import Facility in Tabangao, Batangas.
In October last year, Shell’s London headquarters announced a target of reducing absolute emissions by 50 percent by 2030 covering all emissions in Scope 1 (directly from its operations) and Scope 2 (energy purchased to run its operations). The developments are aligned with an overall goal of becoming a net-zero emissions energy business by 2050.
