Chery loads the new Tiggo 8 Pro with advanced driver assist systems
At the top of Chery Philippines’ all-SUV lineup is the Tiggo 8 Pro, a 7-seat midsize SUV. The Tiggo 8 Pro is loaded with convenience and safety features. The safety aspect is one that Chery is currently highlighting. The Tiggo 8 Pro’s safety features actively assist the driver to help reduce crashes and potentially dangerous driving situations.
The Tiggo 8 Pro has on board 12 advanced driver assist systems:
1. Rear Cross-Traffic Assist. This system alerts you that another vehicle is approaching when you’re reversing out of a parking space
2. Blind Spot Detection- warns you if a vehicle is approaching the blind spots on either side of the Tiggo 8 Pro
3. Autonomous Emergency Braking- if an obstacle is detected, and the driv6. er does not brake, the Tiggo 8 Pro can automatically brake the vehicle
4. Door Opening Warning- alerts if a car 7. is approaching from behind as you or your passengers are about to open the door
5. Forward Collision Warning- detects obstacles ahead and alerts for potential 8. collisions
Adaptive Cruise Control- adjusts the Tiggo 8 Pro’s speed to safely follow another vehicle on the highway Lane Keeping Assist- helps keep the car within marked lanes. This is particularly useful in low-visibility conditions or when another car with bright headlamps is approaching Traffic-Jam Assist- in slow-moving traffic, the system can autonomously accelerate and brake to keep up with traffic
9. Integrated Cruise Assist- measures the distance to the vehicle in front of you and maintains a safe distance
10. Intelligent High-Beam Control- can activate the high beams when there are no oncoming cars to enhance the driver’s vision
11. Lane Departure Warning- gives an audible alert and activates force feedback through the steering wheel when it detects that the car is drifting to another lane
12. Traffic Sign Recognition- warns when you exceed posted speed limits
All of these safety features augment the safety systems that are likewise onboard the Tiggo 8 Pro but not always standard on other makes and models. These are Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Assist Control (HAC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and ISOFIX child-seat tethers. High-strength steel is used in the Tiggo Pro 8’s chassis.
The Tiggo 8 Pro comes with Chery’s Premium Preserv package. This is comprised of a 7-year engine warranty, 7-year bumper-to-bumper general vehicle warranty, free 3-year preventive maintenance service and free 3-year roadside assistance.
The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro is powered by a turbocharged gasoline engine. The 1.6 liter turbo features 195 hp and 290Nm, while the 2.0 liter turbo delivers 254 hp and 390 Nm. The most efficient variant is the plugin hybrid version with a 1.5-liter engine an electric motor. It’s also the most powerful, at 320 hp and 545 Nm.
Other Tiggo Pro 8 features include 18inch aluminum alloy wheels, power driver’s seat, LED headlamps with daytime running lights, front and rear park assist radar, tire pressure monitoring system, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, Apple CarPlay audio, wireless mobile phone charging, and available automatic tailgate.
