COMMEMORATING ‘A LONG-LASTING FRIENDSHIP’
Spain marks National Day and 75 years of diplomatic relations with PH
The weather cooperated to create a beautiful evening to celebrate the National Day of Spain, a memorable occurrence, since this was the first time the event was celebrated in three years.
The guests were welcomed warmly by Spain Ambassador Miguel Utray. The event also celebrated Spain and the Philippines’ 75-year-old diplomatic relationship.
Utray’s speech carried a warm, uplifting message of hope. “We celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Spain, while we also commemorate 500 years since the first circumnavigation that launched the first wave of globalization.”
It was “a historical moment that marked also the beginning of a long-lasting friendship between our two countries,” he added.
The event paid homage to the many years of closely intertwined history between the countries while placing special importance on the vivacity of Spanish culture.
We wish Spain many more fruitful national days to come, and welcome Ambassador Utray to the Philippines with open arms. ¡Viva la España!
