What to give the Hallyu fan
From ‘ramyun’ to cell phones, Korean stores are a great source of gifts
Hallyu entertainment is a haven for gift ideas. If you have a limited budget, Korean stores are a great source of gifts. BTS endorses coffee, Cha Eun-woo has chips and Park Seo-jun is the face of Bibigo. Just grab anything with the idols’ faces on it, and you’re good to go.
However, if you have the money to splurge, here are some items that we are sure fans will love.
‘Ramyun’ cooking set
What fan will not appreciate their own ramyun cooking set? A small aluminum pot, a pair of chopsticks and a pack of ramen can be put together for P500 or less.
Here’s a fun tip: If the receiver is more of a K-drama fan, choose Nongshim’s Shin Ramyun. Ju Ji-hoon’s Crown Prince character in “Princess Hours” was compared to ramyun that needed an egg. But if the receiver is an Army or a BTS fan, then the obvious choice is Ottogi’s Jin Ramen. BTS’ Jin is the brand ambassador.
Concert ticket
There are plenty of K-pop events in December and a ticket to one would be a great gift. Super Junior, Seventeen and SM Entertainment legends such as BoA, TVXQ, EXO’s Chen and Xiumin are having concerts here. A ticket to any of these events will surely make anyone’s holiday memorable.
Multi balm stick
The biggest K-beauty trend this year is the Kahi Wrinkle Bounce Multi Balm. Thanks to the endorsement of Kim Go-eun (“Little Women,” “Goblin”) and multiple placements in several K-dramas, the multipurpose balm caught people’s eye. Actresses would put the balm on their faces and necks to moisturize their skin before applying the same stick on their lips. This stick could easily make the receiver feel that she’s lead character material.
K-drama shoulder bag
“Business Proposal” was one of the most popular K-dramas that came out this year. The effect of Kim Se-jeong’s character (Shin Ha-ri) on fashion was felt on the streets of Seoul. While her tweed coordinates didn’t quite take off here because of the warm weather, her accessories certainly gained
traction. She made Tory Burch’s Eleanor bag desirable to K-drama fans. Be sure to get it from official stores, because fakes are flourishing online.
Fave luggage
What’s a K-drama without one of the leads moving into the home of the other? Thus, we are exposed to a plethora of luggage styles in different shows. Everything about the character is well thought out in K-drama land. If the character is a sensible chaebol (generational wealthy person), expect him to lug around a Rimowa. A business person’s choice would be a Samsonite. A middle-class character with a steady income will go for Delsey Chatelet. A student will choose a luggage based on the color and design over the brand.
Something that glitters
Who could say no to good jewelry? Chanel earrings are usually reserved for heiresses or rich wives in K-dramas. However, Swarovski is also a popular choice for stylish characters. If “Crash Landing on You” is what got the receiver hooked on K-dramas, then they will appreciate anything from the brand.
Give a phone
K-dramas promote Korean products and this includes tech items. The current favorite is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. Main characters would use this phone unless they are broke. However, if the person receiving it likes to go to concerts, then the sensible gift is Samsung’s flagship product, the S22 Ultra. You can’t go wrong with the camera of this phone. Super’s concert photographer Bunny Javier also swears by Vivo X80’s performance during events.
