Ayala Healthcare Holdings Inc. (AC Health) has made major moves to fully realize its vision of creating an integrated ecosystem that spans the entire continuum of health care. The company recently led the integration of its hospitals and clinics under the Healthway Medical Network (HMN) brand, signaling its commitment to deliver more coordinated, human-centric health care.

The first ones to carry the new HMN brands are the Healthway QualiMed Hospital Santa Rosa in Laguna and the Healthway QualiMed Hospital San Jose del Monte in Bulacan.

“The unveiling of the HMN brand signifies more than a mere name change—it represents our unwavering dedication to providing compassionate, coordinated care that is always patient-first,” said AC Health president and CEO Paolo Borromeo.

The new HMN brand comes with a promise to deliver “Care Beyond Cure,” anchored on “Connected Care Circles,” Healthway’s innovative model of care. This is HMN’s promise to address the patient’s medical wellness and overall well-being through high-quality, accessible health care.

“‘Care Beyond Cure’ is HMN’s holistic and human-centric approach to health care,” said Jaime Ysmael, president and CEO of Healthway Medical. “It goes beyond treating the physical illness of a patient and focuses on their overall well-being. HMN has formed an integrated medical network to provide patients with the best health care possible.”

At HMN, patients are managed by a multidisciplinary health-care team armed with evidence-based global and local best practices to ensure consistently excellent clinical outcomes and patient experiences. The model focuses on providing value for patients through cost-effective packages that consider the full cycle of care.

Over the past few years, AC Health has made investments in different sectors of health. Today, its network consists of three pillars: pharma, digital health and clinics and hospitals.

Its pharma group includes Generika, the pioneer in generic retail drugstores, and IE Medica and MedEthix, an importer of quality biosimilars and generic medicines. Its digital health group is spearheaded by KonsultaMD, a health tech superapp launched in partnership with Globe. Finally, for its clinics and hospitals, it has HMN, the primary avenue of health-care delivery and right-site care.

Big aspirations

“At Ayala, we believe that every Filipino deserves access to quality health care, and we are committed to helping make this a reality,” said Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, Ayala Corp.’s chairperson. “We have big aspirations for AC Health and HMN. With health care being at the top of the national agenda and our priorities at Ayala, this is an opportune time to expand and bring quality health care to more of our fellow Filipinos.”

The brand launch of HMN signifies an exciting new chapter for the network of medical facilities. Alongside network integration, AC Health plans to further expand its clinic and hospital footprint in the country.

In 2022, it inaugurated three new multispecialty centers. This year, it is set to open three additional clinics in Cebu, Cagayan de Oro and Davao, expanding its network to a total of 15 outpatient centers.

The highly anticipated Healthway Cancer Care Hospital, the first of its kind in the country, is also slated to open in September. The stateof-the-art facility in Taguig will provide comprehensive cancer care with 100 beds, 18 chemotherapy infusion units, two LINACs, a PET-CT scan and advanced diagnostic and imaging machines.

As AC Health’s ecosystem expands, it will continue to harness the collective strength of all its assets. The company is continuously looking for more opportunities to drive synergies and offer a differentiated experience for its Healthway doctors, employees and patients.

To date, AC Health has served 6.1 million people, but its work is far from complete. In the near future, the company aims to further expand its services and touch the lives of one in every five Filipinos by 2030.

Priority will be given to the accessibility of high-quality generics, empowering Filipinos with affordable treatment options. Generika, with over 750 stores at the moment, is set to surpass 800 by yearend and 1,000 nationwide by 2025.

Through IE Medica and MedEthix, AC Health will continue to import quality generic alternatives, particularly in Oncology, Women’s Health, and Primary Care. The enhanced version of KonsultaMD has also become the largest one-stop shop for digital health services in the country, serving over 2.5 million subscribers.
