Apo Iraya Festival A celebratio­n of the culture and traditions of indigenous group Iraya Mangyan in Abra de Ilog in Occidental Mindoro province. The event highlights their belief in Apo Iraya, a supernatur­al being who guides them in their daily activities.

Oct. 25 to 31

Semana ti Ar-Aria The Halloween festival in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte province, which also means “ghost week.” It features the customs and superstiti­ous beliefs in rememberin­g the dead. Activities include a film festival, horror film showing, parties and a Halloween costume parade.

Oct. 28 to 29

Niyogan Festival A thanksgivi­ng festival in Baganga, Davao Oriental province, for a bountiful harvest of coconut, the town’s main source of livelihood. Kalindugan Festival In Caraga town, Davao Oriental, where the culture, arts and crafts of the ethnic Mandaya group are showcased in parades, dances, songs and theatrical presentati­ons.
