TEAM SOUTHEAST ASIA LEADS NAT’L SQUAD

Team Philippine­s yielded to Team Southeast Asia, 2.5-7.5, in two formats Monday and needs a major rally Tuesday to catch up with Team Southeast Asia in the Pradera Verde Ladies Challenge 2 in Lubao, Pampanga.

The visitors topped the morning’s scramble play, 3.51.5, then repeated, 4-1, in the afternoon’s alternate shot format.

Thai Onkanok Soisuwan and Indonesian Michela Tjan crushed Harmie Constantin­o and Bernice Olivarez-Ilas in al- ternate shot, 4&3, the same result posted by Thais Phannarai Meesom-us and Pimkwan Chookaew over Nicole Abelar and Tomi Arejola.

Thais Prampun Kultida and Pinkaew Trachuento­ng clipped Yuka Saso and Sofia Chabon, 5&4, while Malaysians Ashley Lau and Zulaikah Nasser beat Annyka Cayabyab and Mikha Fortuna, 1-up.

Kristine Torralba, Kayla Nocum and Laurea Duque countered with a 5&4 rout of Malaysians Charlayne Shing Ling and Audrey Tan and Singaporea­n Shannon Tan.

Kultida and Nasser whipped Arejola and Torralba, 4&3, in Scramble play with Chookaew and Tan taming Cayabyab and Fortuna, 2&1, and Ling, Tjan and Soisuwan nipping Chabon, Nocum and Duque, 1-up. Constantin­o and Olivarez-Ilasdowned Trachuento­ng and Meesom-us, 1-up, while Saso and Abelar salvaged an allsquare match with Lau and Tan.
