Set an appointment with treat yourself to a glass— or more
enophiles, rejoice! Shanghai’s famous Dr Wine has set up practice along Alger St in Poblacion, and clinic hours extend well into the early morn. The dimly-lit wine and restaurant bar gives off a cosy, industrial feel. Textured wood veneer surfaces (these were culled from a century-old Pampanga house) and handpicked Machuca tiles add to its character.
The place is owned and run by sommelier Vincent Landais and his wife Eva Marzan-Landais. Their well-stocked cellars offer myriad options of Old and New World wines that suit every preference and budget, as well as liquors, spirits, and beers for those who may want to try other things. Delicious eats such as sandwiches, and cheese and charcuterie platters courtesy of Chef Julien Lecomte are also available. With all these on the menu, there’s no better place to wine the night away.
