Having realised his lifelong passion for the arts, Enzo Razon steps out with his first ever exhibition, Isabel Martel Francisco writes

reativity runs in the Razon family’s genes. If his home videos are anything to go by, Enzo Razon—younger brother to DJ and artist relations consultant Katrina—is also inclined towards the arts, specifically visual arts. When the siblings were younger, they would transform the Razon household into a large-scale studio for shoots, starring themselves and their cousins. As the years passed, Enzo’s fascination with cameras and the artistic process remained constant. From dramas to comedies, set designs, film editing, animated shorts, and more, Enzo’s hobby has now become a blossoming career.

He recalls always carrying around a Moleskine notebook where he constantly jotted down thoughts, ideas, plans, and drawings. His studio holds piles of these black Moleskines, going back over a decade, filled with memories of his youth. Quite noticeably, some of his old sketches have re-appeared in his drawings today. He explains, “When I flip through my old notebooks and see faces that I have also drawn in my works today, I know they are genuine, legit, and meant to be because they have been with me since forever.”

He started out immersed in film but has shifted to photography and drawings, both of which comprise his first exhibition, Fur On Fire and The Children Of The Corn. “One of my most valuable takeaways from school is the realisation that my love for photography is the same as for film, and for anything visual for that matter. I enjoy the collaborative aspect of movies but I also love the individual control that goes into drawings and photography. As long as I’m doing one of these things, I’m happy,” he shares.

Fur On Fire is also what Enzo has called his film productions since the beginning, a moniker for him and his group of friends who create a collection of entertaining videos. “Aside from the fact that it sounds cool, fur is indicative of expectations—setting that on fire is simply challenging and changing that. We are doing the unexpected,” he explains.
