Shoe designer extraordinaire Christian Louboutin—perhaps inspired by his visit to our country in November of last year—released a pair of handbags made with Philippine textiles. Named Manilacaba, the collection consists of two totes, one in a blue, black, green, and red colour palette, and the other in denim and white with a brighter ikat pattern. Both are characterised by a jeepney motif, the interiors emblazoned with even more jeepneys bearing place name signs such as “Makati,” “Manila,” and the playful “No Selfies.” Flat-top handles bearing spiked ends and a removable shoulder strap for versatility make these bags easy to carry around, while a lobster lock closure ensures valuables are kept safe. The totes were a hit with fashionistas; they are available in limited quantities on the Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman websites as of writing.
