Two big and powerful voices are set to return and take Manila by storm once again. First up is Sam Smith (5 October, MOA Arena), who was featured on Disclosure’s single “Latch” in 2012. This was the English singer/songwriter’s stepping stone to stardom. In 2014, he released his single “Lay Me Down” featuring John Legend. Up next is the American singer/songwriter Mariah Carey (live in Manila on 26 October at the Araneta Coliseum, Quezon City). At age 18, she released her first album, Mariah Carey, with Columbia Records in 1990. Her career skyrockete­d from then on. She holds the record of having the most singles debut at number one in the history of Billboard Hot 100. Called the “Songbird Supreme,” she is noted for her five-octave vocal range, vocal power, melismatic style, and signature use of the whistle register. Carey has sold more than 200 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
