Li­brary spa­ces are of great im­pact to the aca­demic per­for­mance of stu­dents and li­braries are now trans­form­ing tra­di­tional spa­ces into en­hanced learn­ing en­vi­ron­ments, of­ten com­pet­ing with de­mands for space within the aca­demic set­ting.

The re­searcher presents the re­cent re­design­ing and con­struc­tion of the li­brary spa­ces that will add value to users' ed­u­ca­tional and re­search ex­pe­ri­ences in the Col­lege of Nurs­ing at Uni­ver­sity of the Philip­pines Manila. In this con­nec­tion, this pa­per aims to help li­brar­i­ans and lead­ers to vi­su­al­ize stu­dents' use of li­brary spa­ces in this type of aca­demic li­brary set­ting. More­over, the pa­per pro­vides bet­ter un­der­stand­ing in ex­e­cut­ing changes in the lay­out and space de­sign that fit the needs of li­brary users.

The re­searcher used a de­scrip­tive sur­vey method to iden­tify the chang­ing needs of li­brary users and the ad­min­is­tra­tion's pref­er­ences re­gard­ing li­brary spa­ces. At the end of the ses­sion, li­brar­i­ans' ex­pe­ri­ences and chal­leng­ing roles be­fore and after the con­struc­tion of the li­brary are re­vealed.
