A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF MASTERAL THESES OF MAED MAJOR IN EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT

This study conducted a bibliometric analysis of the submitted masteral theses in the program Master of Arts in Education, Major in Educational Management in Saint Columban College (SCC) from 2012-2016. The researcher formulated implications based from the findings of the study to the library collection development and the research process. The bibliometric analysis was carried out to identify the research profile of the program in terms of its strengths and gaps of the research subject, to distinguish obsolescence and type of cited resources and to prepare a rank list of the core journals through the application of Bradford’s Law of Scattering (BLS). The study reveals that the data set is valid but does not fit the formulation of BLS. A high percentage of obsolescence and the inconsistency in citation was also uncovered. It is resolved that to improve the research quality of the papers, implications determined by the bibliometric study should be integrated in the collection development policy of the library and in a more thorough practice and familiarization on referencing.
