This paper aims to understand and discuss the underlying factors that influence the effectiveness of the internship program at the University of the Philippines Archives Division from the point of view of UP SLIS students. For years, not so much has been written with regard to archival internships in cultural institutions within the Philippines, more so in academic archives. This research shall therefore shed light on the strengths of the entire archives in terms of its collection, staff, and facilities. Students who have successfully completed their internship in the archives as a prerequisite for LIS 181, a course in field assignment, shall be the primary respondents of this study. This study hopes to highlight the strengths, but most importantly, the possible improvement of the current program based on the observations of the respondents. Furthermore, the result of this study may help establish patterns for creating an internship program for archival institutions within the public and private sectors, academic and otherwise. Keywords: archival internship; internship evaluation; archival management
