On the contrary, she is not a stranger to more tranquil and intimate get-togethers. Elegant sit-down dinners happen in her summer home in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, where she invites guests at least two weeks before, and prepares classic name cards, a seating arrangement, and a five-course meal. “I enjoy it. I’m a big cook. I love going to the local fish market there early in the morning to get the scallops that have just been brought up by the fishermen. I do a lot of grilling in the backyard. I go to Morning Glory market to get vegetables. And I do all of these on my bike,” she says. “I’m a fanatic for amazing, organic produce and ingredients. If there are no amazing ingredients available, though, I won’t even bother to cook. It doesn’t inspire me to put together a meal. I just moved to Manila, and I have yet to find where they sell my favorite mayonnaise.”

According to Sabrina, as a host, the first thing to do is ask guests about dietary restrictions or food allergies. “There is always one. I haven’t been to a party where there wasn’t. There’s nothing worse than going to a dinner where you can’t really eat and enjoy.” A good host should understand the needs of some people and check ahead. Failing to do so can make it very uncomfortable for both the host and the guests. Sabrina admits that she has a traditional approach with planning dinners: She starts with handwritten invites, followed by seating arrangements. “I am super anal about that. Super.

Part of the philosophy of entertaining, aside from enjoying amazing food, is enjoying amazing company. We can all sit at home and eat, but when you make an effort to go out and

“My Glitter Rock birthday party two years ago at Pangaea was memorable. I was channeling a Motley Crew-Lady Gaga combination and had a blast doing my own makeup and sporting a near one-foot tall mohawk.”
