A Q&A with Kérastase Aura Botanica Ambassador Amanda Griffin-jacob

Preview (Philippines) - - Chapter Six Brand Profile -

WHY DID YOU AGREE TO BE THE BRAND AMBASSADOR FOR THIS LINE, AND HOW IS THIS EXPERIENCE OF REPRESENTING A PRODUCT DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS YOU’VE ENDORSED?

For the last eight years, I’ve been conscientiously converting my beauty, hygiene and home products to ones that have less chemical ingredients and have minimal impact on the environment. Those are two out of the three criteria that need to be fulfilled when it comes to my products, the last being the efficacy of the product. This has been an extensive process, which is still ongoing. I would estimate that 85 percent of the products I use fall into the more natural category at the moment. Until Aura Botanica, I had never found a product that met all three of those standards. My hair has always challenged me because I have very wavy and very thick hair that I color. All the natural products I’ve tried never really seemed to hydrate my hair enough. The conditioners especially never seemed to work properly, and I would inevitably end up with tangled and dry hair. I’m also prone to frizz and all the more natural oil products would leave my hair very oily. When I found out about Aura Botanica and tried it, I knew that my hair prayers had been answered. It seemed like it had been made with my precise specifications in mind.

HOW DOES THIS PRODUCT LINE SATISFY WHAT YOU VALUE AS A CONSUMER?

There are no “nasties”—it’s also sulfate-, silicone- and paraben-free—in the Aura Botanica range and the products actually do what they claim. It’s like the Holy Grail of hair care for me. But beyond that, Kérastase espouses the ethos of sustainability and social responsibility with Aura Botanica, and actually delivers on their promises. From the environmental and sustainability standpoint, the Aura Botanica packaging is not just made of post-consumer-recycled plastic, it also has a lighter design to significantly reduce the use of plastics as well. The range is manufactured in the Burgos factory in Spain, which has a neutral carbon footprint. Kérastase is also responsibly sourcing the argan and coconut oils from Morocco and Samoa, and the formula is 97-percent biodegradable.

I wash my hair every day because I work out every day. I usually do one major color and treatment per month or every three weeks. This range cleans my hair thoroughly, conditions well, adds shine and defrizzes. My hair feels great. I’ve added the oil and spray into my regimen— before that I would only shampoo and condition my hair. I’ve honestly never tried products that were 98-percent natural in origin that could achieve anything close to this.
