Masskara sked ordinance approved on first reading

THE Bacolod City Council has approved on first reading a proposed ordinance setting the last Sunday of October as a permanent schedule of the Masskara Festival highlights in the city.

The ordinance, authored by Councilor Em Ang, stated that City Ordinance No. 33, Series of 1987 titled “An Ordinance making the Masskara Festival as a permanent affair in Bacolod” was passed on October 6, 1987, making the Masskara festival a permanent affair in Bacolod which will be held one week before October 19 which is the Charter Anniversar­y of Bacolod.

Ang, chairperso­n of committee on tourism, said the setting of Masskara Festival highlights on the last Sunday of October as a permanent schedule will help people across the world make travel plans based on assured schedule.

Section 1 of the proposed ordinance stated that the City of Bacolod shall celebrate the highlights of Masskara Festival every last Sunday of October to strengthen, promote, and expand the festival’s impact in tourism.

Section 3 of the proposed ordinance stated that all ordinances, resolution­s, executive orders, or regulation­s and other issuances inconsiste­nt with the provisions and/ or purposes of the ordinance are hereby repealed, amended or modified accordingl­y.*
