Distrito brothers endorse ma for councilor
BACOLOD City Councilor Caesar Distrito and his brother, Barangay Singcangairport Chieftain Rosinie Distrito, endorsed their mother for councilor in the 2019 elections.
Distrito, a member of Nationalista Party (NP) and Grupo Progreso (GP), said he will take a rest from politics. He’s already on his third and final term as councilor.
He said he will concentrate on supporting the GP slate in the 2019 elections. Its slate will include his mother, Simple, an incumbent and four-termer kagawad of Barangay Singcang-airport.
“I am a loyal GP soldier, and I will always think of what is best for the group before myself. That is the essence of loyalty. I’m just 42year-old and there will be a lot of opportunities along the way,” he added.
Distrito said he’s happy he had served the city for three consecutive terms.
He added Bacolod is in good hands with Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and Congressman Greg Gasataya.
“They had proven that leaders working together will always be much, much better than leaders working against each other,” Distrito added.
“My political party might field another Distrito (his mother) to run as councilor under the GP alliance. I am hopeful that those who supported me will also support my mother,” Distrito said.
Simple Distrito is the wife of the late Barangay Singcang-airport chieftain Ronnie Distrito.
Simple said she welcomed the challenge to run as councilor and she has many experiences in terms of public service, especially in helping the poor.
She said she is a chairman of the Bacolod Mother’s Club that is engaged in eradicating malnutrition among mothers and children, mother and child health care and livelihood programs for mothers.
Rosinie, for his part, said they supported the plan of their mother in the 2019 elections.*
