EDC distributes school supplies to over 3,800 students
OVER 3,800 students from Bago City and Murcia town in Negros Occidental received school supplies from Energy Development Corporation (EDC) as part of their annual gift giving to schoolchildren within their constituency.
Education is the centerpiece of EDC’S corporate social responsibility program, which has been providing support to over 10,000 students from the elementary to the tertiary level all over Negros Island and has been recognized for its best practices and sustainability, not just here in the country, but globally.
The new school supplies were given to students of Mailum Elementary School, Minoyan Elementary School, Balasyang Elementary School, RM Araneta Elementary School, Fbarandiaran Elementary School, CA Dormido Elementary School, and Najaba Elementary School.
EDC Community Partnerships, External Relations and Watershed Management Team head Norreen Bautista, who led the distribution, said: “the annual gift-giving is our own way of motivating them and keeping these kids in school so they can pursue their dreams when they grow up.”
Murcia Vice Mayor Gerardo Rojas attended the distribution at the Minoyan Elementary School and gave inspiring words on the value of education and community partnership to students and teachers.
Merian Bañas from the Department of Education, meanwhile, attended the gift-giving at Mailum Elementary School.
