Bacolod finalist again in PCCI Most Business-friendly LGU
SHOWING consistency in being business-friendly, under the present administration, Bacolod City has once again qualified as a national finalist in the ongoing search for the most business-friendly local government units (LGU).
Mayor Evelio Leonardia was informed by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) recently that Bacolod City has advanced to the final judging of the 2018 Most Business-friendly LGU Awards under the City Level 1 Category.
Leonardia said, “We are already a winner regardless of the final outcome because being a national finalist is a feat in itself. It bolsters our image as an investment haven. This is also very positive for our business climate.”
Last year, PCCI also awarded Bacolod City as one of the Top 3 finalists in the same contest. Bacolod was the only highly urbanized city outside of Metro Manila included in the Top 3.
This year’s awarding ceremony will be held on October 18 to 19 during the 44th Philippine Business Conference & Expo, with the theme, “Infrastructure & Digital Economy: The Game Changer.”
Prior to the awarding ceremony, Jose Alejandro, chairman of the LGU Awards, and Dr. Francis Chua, co-chairman of the 44th Philippine Business Conference & Expo, have invited the mayors of finalist cities and municipalities for an interview with the panel of judges on Tuesday at the PCCI Headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
They will give a fiveminute presentation on their LGU’S accomplishments or initiatives in the four award criteria under the Essential Indicators.
These are (1) fast-tracking Sustainable Local Economic Development; (2) Improvement of Ease of Doing Business.; (3) Investment Promotion Initiatives; and (4) Initiatives to Enhance Industry/ Sectoral Competitiveness./pr
