Rojas files COC for Murcia mayor

-

Vice Mayor Victor Gerardo Rojas, together with his complete slate under Partido Demokratiko Pilipino– Lakas ng Bayan and local aggrupation Asenso Murciahanon, filed his certificate of candidacy for mayor of the municipality at the local poll office Friday.

Rojas has served two terms as a town councilor and then elected for three successive terms as vice mayor.

His running mate is Councilor Johnny Reosura, while the eight councilors in their slate are re-electionists Councilors Jagie Gravino, Belen Magbanua, Norberto delos Reyes and Jose Gomez, as well as aspirants, former councillor Adrian Olimpo, Barangay Caliban Chairman Antonio Luis Gonzaga, businessman Carlito Yu Jr. and Barangay Minoyan Kagawad Rene Sangoy.

Accompanying them during the filing was Murcia Mayor Andrew Montelibano, who is set to file his certificate of candidacy on October 16 for Provincial Board Member representing the Third District of Negros Occidental.

His victory in next year’s polls will herald the return of the Montelibano clan to the Provincial Capitol, after more than three decades of absence. The last Montelibano to occupy a seat at the Capitol was his uncle, Alfredo Montelibano Jr., who served as governor from 1968 to 1986.

“As a parting gift to me after nine years of serving as your mayor, I enjoin you to give the slate of Asenso Murciahanon headed by Vice Mayor Rojas a resounding 100 victory in the May 13, 2019 elections,” Montelibano urged his constituents during the brief program at the municipal hall after the filing of the COCS of their group.

With the support of all 21 barangay heads in Murcia, the sweep by the Asenso Murciahanon slate can be achieved.

He also promised that, once he is installed as a Provincial Board Member, he will deliver more projects for the welfare of his townmates.

For his part, Rojas committed to continue the brand of service and delivery of projects which were the hallmarks of the outgoing mayor and Third District Representative Alfredo Benitez.

“I will do my very best to serve you all,” Rojas pledged.*
