Norppo inaugurates Camp Supt Arnel Arpon

THE Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo) inaugurated Camp Superintendent Arnel D. Arpon at Barangay Bulado in Guihulngan City Monday, October 15.

The inauguration rites was led by provincial police director Senior Superintendent Raul Tacaca, barangay officials led by village chief Lyndon Bulado, Sangguniang Panlungsod headed by Councilor Felomino Reyes, and members of the 94th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army.

The camp was established more than a year after Arpon, former chief of Guihulngan City Police Station, was killed along with his four other colleagues while engaging in a firefight with suspected members of New People’s Army (NPA) in Barangay Magsaysay in the said city on July 21, 2017. The policemen responded to a call for assistance from Councilor Edison de la Rita, who was also killed by the same perpetrators at Barangay Poblacion on April 2 this year.

Tacaca, in a press release, expressed his gratitude to the people responsible for the establishment of the said camp, particularly the heirs of Antonio Delara who owned the parcel of land where the camp is situated.

Rafael Lorenz Serion to develop strong community relations in their area and strengthen it with their daily interaction with the people in the village.

He explained that the presence of the personnel of 3rd Maneuver Platoon and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company presently assigned at the camp is for peace and order.

He called on the people through the barangay officials to support the law enforcers assigned in the village and further urged the constituents to be in constant vigilance to deny the presence of the local communist rebels who wanted to destroy the economic development of the city.

For his part, Bulado is hoping there will be no infractions of the law that will be perpetrated by law enforcers in order to establish trust and confidence among the people.

Meanwhile, Pastor Russel Suyo led the blessing of the camp and prayed for spiritual intervention in whatever challenges that the uniformed men may face in the future.

A boodle fight followed as a traditional way of binding unity and solidarity among comrades with the participation of the members of the community.*
