60 Hinigaran farmers sign undertakings, take oath as potential Carp beneficiaries

SIXTY potential agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBS) in Hinigaran town has signed their Application to Purchase and Farmers Undertakings (Apfu) and took their oath at Binalbagan Municipal Trial Court on Friday, October 12.

Of the total number of farmers, 52 are under the landholding formerly owned by Isasi and Sons, Inc. cover- ing 156.2811 hectares located at Barangay Bato.

Six potential ARBS will divide the 14-hectare landholding formerly owned by Laura Garilao located at Barangay Paticui, while the remaining two signees are farmers of the 4.32-hectare landholding formerly owned by Hernani Mijares at Barangay Cambaog.

The signing of undertakings and oath taking signify that they have qualified in the screening process for the inclusion in the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp), Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Ma. Deza Sayo said.

For her part, Presiding Judge Leticia Trigue, who administered the oath of office, discussed to the potential beneficiaries the content of the undertakings.

Trigue then encouraged the farmers to work hard and make their land more productive.

She also warned them not to engage in illegal activities such as sale and lease of lands, which are grounds for disqualification from the program.*
