Int’l rondalla groups perform in Gov’t Center

THREE rondalla groups, including two from outside the country, have performed at the Bacolod City Government Center on Friday, as part of the 5th Internatio­nal Rondalla/ Plucked String Music Festival from November 3 to 11.

The groups are the Taiwan Bamboo Orchestra and Taipei Guzheng Ensemble from Taiwan, Art Company Dalmoon from South Korea, and the Mauban Community Rondalla from Quezon, Philippine­s.

They are among the 21 groups participat­ing in the ongoing music festival in Silay City, with the theme, “Cuerdas sang Paghiliusa (Strings of Unity).”

The Government Center show was courtesy of the City Government of Silay.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, First Lady Elsa Leonardia and Councilors Em Ang and Cindy Rojas watched the show.

Leonardia thanked Silay Mayor Mark Golez for bringing the some of the rondalla performers to the Government Center. He also thanked the three groups for delighting the audience with their impressive performanc­es.

“Cuerdas sang Paghiliusa is a fitting example of how people from different places in the world can be united through the beauty of music,” Ang said.

Watching the show were city employees and students from different elementary and high schools.

Meanwhile, Leonardia announced that he invited the Philippine Philharmon­ic Orchestra to perform in Bacolod on January 31 and February 1./PR
