Riding-in-tandem lob grenade at Ceneco president’s house

THE family of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) President Dwight Carbon was alarmed with the recovery of a grenade lobbed inside their residential compound in Canlaon View Subdivision at Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia early Monday.

No one was hurt as the grenade malfunctioned and did not explode.

Frank Carbon, executive director of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI), said Dwight, his brother, was not at their house when the incident happened as he was in Manila.

He said he initially talked to his brother and they have no idea about the motive of the said incident.

“He is expected to arrive from Manila today. So far, we don’t know of any motive because we don’t know he has a grudge with anybody,” Carbon said.

Municipal Police Station, said it was very fortunate that the said grenade did not explode despite its firing and safety pin was already released.

“It was an M61 grenade. It was live and new and fortunately, it did not explode,” Indiape said.

The grenade was found by Carbon’s helper while cleaning the house.

They were not aware that it was lobbed at their house by unidentified riding-in-tandem suspects.

One of the men who was wearing a helmet came near to the house and lobbed the grenade based on the video captured through closed-circuit television, Indiape said.

The Ceneco president could not be reached for comment as of press time.*
