4th Governor’s Cup winners announced
THE 4th Governor’s Cup Invitational Table Tennis championship organized by the Office of the Negros Occidental Governor in partnership with Lopue’s Table Tennis Association (Loptta) led by president Leonito “Diotay” Lopue and SM City Bacolod recently concluded at SM City Bacolod main atrium.
Over 220 players from different schools and clubs from different localities joined the competition, which has eight events.
In the 13 & under (boys), Dirk Nikhole Atilano won the championship over Antimony Ginete while Klyde Denmel Repullo settled for second runner-up.
In the 13 & under (girls), Alfranzen Arisco bagged the gold award after winning over Dianah Yapiso while Neka Daguia received the bronze award.
Frances Elaine Arguelles was the champion in the women’s open event while Micah Tanate placed second and Paula Beatrice Canalin in third place.
In the men’s open event John Michael Castro won all his matches up to the championship against Ryan Buenaventura while Ken Andrie Memoria finished third.
In the men’s executive event, Ervin Bomban won over Jay Canalin in the finals while Santiago Saligumba Jr. settled in the second runner-up.
In the women’s executive A event, Ruby Ann Longno won the championship while Romela Jardinico finished first runner-up while Ning Banquillo settled in the second runner-up.
Also in the women’s executive B, Marichu Claver won over Timon Villanueva in the finals while Vanessa Puentevella settled in the second runner-up.
The veterans (60 & above) event is one of the inspiring group in this tourney because there are still seniors who enjoyed playing the game.
Robert Arteche won the championship back to back while Peter Lim placed second and Steven Rong in the third place./pr
